Spotlight: Ash’s CRX

As promised in my blog of Mimms Honda Day I present you a little spotlight of Ash his magnificent CRX. At the Stanced Daily meet, my roadtrip buddy Stijn contacted Ash if he was in for a little photoshoot. Luckily he was and who turns down a free photoshoot right? He drove to the meeting and from there we went to the Excell building in London. But first we picked up a friend of Ash who was doing groceries at the supermarket nearby. Ash told us that his friend exchanged his NSX for this Lotus Exige. I was amazed that a week of groceries fitted in the little trunk in the back of the Exige!

I do wonder if Ash’s friend wakes up screaming of having nightmares that he got rid of his NSX. But in the end it doesn’t matter if you’re black or white, I bet the exige drives like a dream as well!

Ash his first car was a 1st gen CRX which he had for 2 years, unfortunately it got written off by a hit and run driver. Because he loved the performance and handling of the CRX so much, the only right replacement would be another CRX. But this time he was after the top of the spec EF8 with a glass roof and LSD and this happened back in 1998! The car transformed from bone stock to what it is right now, a real beauty!

No penny was saved to build this CRX, Ash really outdone himself with the build up of the project. Like most of you, he is always busy to make his ride more perfect than it is right now, like a S2000 digital dash conversion and wire tucking his engine bay.

It’s nice to see that Ash has the car in his possession for over 18 years, as he told me the CRX is a part of his life. He grew up with it and went through ups and downs over the years. Still it’s a timeless and beautiful shape that turns heads when you drive by with the sound and looks that the CRX has. He hopes that one day his son is ready to drive and he will pass on the CRX. For know he just enjoys riding it every single sunny day! I do envy his son! ;)

The 16″ Work CR01 wheels fit the CRX like a glove! Because it was so windy with a little bit of rain we didn’t stay for too long. I will go back for a complete feature about this perfectly built CRX! See you soon Ash, so better hurry op on finishing your engine bay ;)
