Clean. A term widely used in the global tuning scene to state how well built a car is. But what does the dictionary state about the word clean?
Source; www.thefreedictionary.com
Clean (klēn)
adj. clean·er, clean·est
1. Free from dirt, stain, or impurities; unsoiled: a clean car; clean clothes.
4. Having no imperfections or blemishes; regular or even: a clean edge; a smooth, clean joint.
Of course there are more definitions of the word clean but I found these two to be the most fitting in regards to the car I had the pleasure of shooting at the 2015 DMPD event.
In my opinion the word clean is often used too easy in nowadays tuning scene…
… but not in the case of Niels his ’90 EU Spec 200sx, RS13! Every modification has been executed brilliantly! For example, the SSR Professor SP1’s in the rear (18×10 ET11) fill the beautifully rolled/stretches/flared arches perfectly.
The bodykit gives the car that classic 90’s Japanese street style, including some custom touches. Things like the custom Hella HID conversion with 90mm modules, complete with automatic leveling system!
Or how about some Alfa Romeo 156 side markers? Who would thought they would look so good on an S-chassis. And Recaro Speeds, from an ITR DC5, are quite the seats to settle your behind in but they look even more stunning reupholstered in black and creme leather. The doorcards and rear seats got treated to the same crafted cowhide.
But it’s not just the seats. In my opinion, Greddy not only produces some of the best gauges out there but also some of the best looking. Combined with the Nardi Classic steering wheel and the Recaro’s I mentioned earlier make this S13 cockpit a sight for sore eyes.
Obligatory Kouki taillights + Version Select rear bumpers and skirts + perfect stance + rear wiper delete + led converted third brakeligth from a Peugeot 306 convertible = S13 perfection. That’s an ass I would tap any damn day of the week!
Did I mention perfect stance already? No? Again… Not too high, not too low…
… Just perfect!
Of course things wouldn’t be complete without a “slightly” modded engine. The CA18DET received a healthy vitamin cure with forged Tomei pistons and Crower I-piston rods, HKS cams, Garret GT28R turbo and lots, lots more. Another thing I love about this car is that every nut and bolt on the engine and in the engine bay have been replaced for new OEM nuts/bolts.
But then again, Niels has owned this car since 2000(!!) and it has had multiple makeovers. Including four sets of wheels, three paint jobs and two engine builds so literally every part of the car has been replaced, refurbished or modified at some point in it’s life, making it the car it is today; A truly clean thirteen!
P.S.
Niels is also one of the editors for USED4.net, a German automotive lifestyle blog/community so make sure to check out their website and Facebook page!
