Featured: Supra Mario

As I walk by at events I see a lot of beautiful cars, but what makes me sad is that most of them are only show. Don’t get me wrong about this but I just love a project which has the looks and the performance. What is holding people back to go for the full monty? Is it the money? The time to build? Or maybe the possibility to fail? There are only a handful of people who take the time and have the dedication to build something. Meet Mario, the owner of this beautiful clean and fast Supra! 50 shades of grey

Gatebil. As I mentioned in my event coverage, about everything there is to say or write about it has been written or said. The same goes for the Toyota/Subaru/Scion GT86/BRZ/FRS. In the relatively short time this model is on the market, about anything you can think of in terms of modifications has been done. The funny thing is though that most of the heavily modified GT86’s/BRZ’s/FRS’s seems to either reside in the States or Japan with the odd exception in Europe or Australia. So when I stumbled upon this GT86 I knew I had to feature it!  Continue reading

S2000 with edge

This S2000 might be the most interesting car that I saw at Gatebil for various reasons. Others might beg to differ, but this is a personal thing. I used to be a convertible driver and I’ve always had a weak spot for the Honda S2000 over the years. Whenever I see a cool S2K project I repeatedly fall in love over and over again and wish that one day I will drive one myself. However I’m always entertained when I see another owner enjoying his or her project and therefore I’d like to tell you a little story about Dennis Häggblom, the proud owner and builder of this particular Honda. Insanity. Madness. Epic. Party. 2JZ. Gatebil!

What is there to say or write about Gatebil events that hasn’t already been said or written? Who hasn’t seen the likes of Aasbø, “Mad” Mike or Vaughn Gittin jr. drifting through traffic via YouTube? So what can I say or write that sounds new or fresh to you? To be honest, I don’t think I can. But I’d still like you to join me on this trip. Gatebil through the eyes of a first timer. That’s right! I got my Gatebil cherry popped at this year’s main event; Gatebil Rudskogen! Continue reading

Cruising, BBQ’ing and a barn full of awesome

Become a photographer they said! It will be fun they said! Well to be honest, for about 99% of the time it is fun. But as always some gigs, shoots, days are better then   others. So when I got an invite from Kees “street race” Reijne to join him for a BBQ with his buddies in their barn, I knew that this would be one of those Saturdays that would be just a “little” better than your average Saturday! Supra with a Ridox jacket

There are people who love the attention, live for the fame and hope their car is captured in every shot taken at an event. On the other hand we have those that will not appear at shows at all nor do they spam their projects except on one, or maybe two carforums. Both of those people have every right to do whatever they want. The first person might provide us with awesome photos and video material shot by some of the best photographers of our scene and the latter just surprises us when we least expect it. Introducing Daniël’s Aristo: I was born on a mountainside

Allow me to introduce our newest Wangan Warriors member, Daniël Waare and his Toyota Aristo. If I recall correctly it was Super Sunday 2011 at the Zandvoort circuit when I first laid eyes on this impressive piece of machinery. At that time I had no idea how his project would evolve or who the owner was. In fact, Daniël, were you the owner back then? Nonetheless we are absolutely honoured and pleased with his presence in our cosy car club. I wanted to take everybody through a little journey from my first acquaintance with Daniël until the fun moments we already had in the past few months. Continue reading
