Nürburgring Drift Cup – Round 4 2016

Fall time at the Nürburgring means that the weather will be unpredictable as ever.
This time around heavy fog covered the whole track for hours and there was a large chance that the battle runs on Sunday would be called off.
Thankfully the weather cleared in time and the boys could go out and make some heavy fog of their own.

WNGN 2K16 – The Fast and the Freezing

Aaaah, Springtime! Days are getting longer, nature is blooming and the meeting season starts again. Time for the Warriors to organise WNGN 2K16 on what would hopefully be a sunny springday at the end of April. Well… we’ve had some sunshine but to be honest, we’ve had snow, hail, rain, the lot!  Continue reading

Built to win! The Valtonen Motorsport RX-7

Hello and welcome to my first (and hopefully not last) blog on Wangan Warriors. Some may know me as Stijn van Beek, seen my photos on Lifestyle-INC or know me as a red-headed boy driving a Honda CRX. I’m not going to bother you guys with boring stuff about myself so let’s talk about something you don’t see everyday.

All the way from Finland, the Valtonen Motorsport FD3S RX-7. Continue reading

The Geneva Motor Show: A guide for the first time visitor

1905 was the year the first Geneva Motor Show was hosted, attracting around 13.000 visitors. Dennis Köhler – 460Hp Mazda Miata Turbo

Dennis Köhler is a familiar name on this blog. We’ve mentioned this young drift talent a few times in our Nürburgring Drift Cup coverage in the past. Our video guy Antonis of Anto Moto did an interview with Dennis at the Müllenbachschleife during the last NDC round. He showed every single inch on the furious NA and some nice action footage. Watch the video! Continue reading

The answer is always Miata

As Allard already mentioned in his recent coverage of the DMPD show in Itterbeck, most of the people attending the show stayed at a local ferienpark for the weekend. Maurice and I, along with some of my Roadster Crew mates, decided to attend this years edition. One of my friends had to work on the Saturday so couldn’t make the main event but told me he would drive over afterwards because he had something to show me. With him being an editor for a few car-related magazines that could mean anything from a Jag to a Nissan Leaf, but when he arrived at our cabin the remarkably familiar sound of a Mazda 4-in-line told me it was neither of the two.
It turns out that Mazda Nederland had given him a brand new Mazda MX-5 ND to test for a weekend, and what better way to test one than on the many b-roads that snake through this part of Germany?

Rockin Roadster: What’s the status

Let’s see if you remember this post I wrote earlier this year. Rockin’ Roadster has been making good progress and I thought it was time for you guys to hear about the status. Our very own Allard has been working hard on his project together with a bunch of friends. The last time I told you about Rockin’ Roadster, it was simply an introduction of the project and the car was basically being dismantled and assessed to discover which parts were reusable or not. DMPD Finest Finest

We as human beings all have our own preference – some like it hot, others like it cold. Some like bacon, others are vegetarian. Some like it stanced, others like it functional. Me? I like my bacon hot, but when it comes to cars I really like most of the sub-cultures within the automotive community, something that reflects on the DMPD events as well as you can see here and here, so allow me to show you some of DMPD finest finest! Dare to be different: Murat’s Mazda RX7 FD

As I started writing the story about this Mazda, a couple of questions went through my mind. Why are some people so deeply in love with cars? Does the technology make our hearts beat faster? Did the initial impression of a certain make or model win our souls forever? Is it because we identify ourselves through some form of materialism? Or are we just funny creatures who don’t know better because everybody around us are petrolheads through and through? For me it started with a general interest for the automotive world when my friends started a car club called Wangan Warriors. My interest became both passion and love from the moment I started to capture other peoples stories with a little black box called a camera. From that point, my heart actually did beat faster when I encountered something exciting or experienced something unreal. Continue reading

Feature – Kevins FC3S Revisited

Historically, the colour red has always been a conduit for emotion. It can convey both love and anger, it is strong but not overpowering, bold but not over the top. Brands like Ferrari have used the color red, or Rosso Corsa as it’s called, to enhance their brand and evoke emotion from the onlookers. Mazda introduced their shade in the middle 80’s called Classic Red and it is still one of the first things that crosses your mind when you think about Mazda in that era. That and their awesome RWD sportcars that were often powered by magic triangles. Continue reading
